In this assignment we had to work as a team to create a BBC ident. The equipment we used to create this were;
- Flip camera
-Still life table
-Studio Lights
-Tripod
-Backdrop stand
-Various coloured fabrics
-The twos
After doing research on Youtube looking at existing idents we came up with our own ideas. We started off by deciding who would take each role within the making of the idents, which went well as we all get along well and were happy with our roles given, we also helped each other out for each job so it sped up the process. We came up with numerous ideas about what the idents could be based on, but our final idea was the seasons. I think this worked well as we all liked the idea and we all got involved in making and designing the set and the twos, as well as working together in a team to get things done correctly. We then started to make the twos, it took quite some time to cut out each two out of the foam board, but I was happy with the overall outcome as they were strong and easy to decorate. the only negative about making the twos was that it took up about three out of the six weeks just making and designing them. Pictures were taken during the making of each ident as it helped to keep track of how the production was going and show that everyone was getting involved.
I think at first the process of creating the twos was slow and not much work was done by many of the members in the group so that only left us with 2 weeks to set up and film the idents, so we weren't extremely organised, which may have effected the quality of the idents. However I like the final idents as they are very quirky and simple, as well as it being a reasonable length, the only problem that we had was with the background as we had to have two people holding it up as there was no way of standing it up, which meant there were less people to help sort out the set.
If i did this again I would make sure that work was done right from the beginning and when we had an idea we stuck to it and really start working hard at it, as it took us a lot of time to think of an idea a lot of time was wasted. I think we should have communicated a lot better near the end of the making of the idents as it meant we were unsure of who was editing the final idents. I also think we should have been more organised with the props we needed as well as writing it down so we remembered to bring them in as the props we used were mainly found in the studio, if they weren't made by us, which took up more time that could have been used to re shoot if we weren't happy with the final outcome.

Setting up the scene.
WINTER
We started off by setting up the background for the ident, including a backdrop stand to hang on snowflakes that we made earlier. We used a still life table to use as the base for the props that we including within the ident, covering it with a black sheet to match the background.
we made a base of the two to help it stand up, we did this by using foam board. As the two was too heavy for the base it kelp falling over, so we used pebbles to hold it down so it doesn't move.
Dani got some white thread and attached this to the snowflakes, which were then hung up onto the backdrop stand.
We then made sure that all the set could be seen within the frame of the flip camera. We also used a mono stand to keep the camera in position as we were filming.
By having the fan on the lowest setting it gently moved the backdrop which made the snowflakes sway gently to make it seem like they were falling.
We then turned off the main lights and used the studio lights to brighten up the set. We didn't want it too bright as it would be hard to see the fairy lights that we set up around the two. We also set up a snowman to match the theme of winter and snow.
SUMMER
We used the still table again for this set up and covered it in a hessian type fabric to make the sand. We then put blue fabric over the top of this to symbolise the sea. We chose this setting as the two has sand and a pair of flip flops on it, so we wanted to stick with the beach theme.
Dani stuck some cotton wool clouds onto the backdrop to add more decoration to the background.
This is the two set up with and without thr background.
We turned the main lights off and used the studio lights to brighten up the set, it also gave a slight yellow glow, which helped it look more summery.
SPRING
This is the completed spring two. We used the same background as the summer two but we just changed the ground. We used a green cardigan for grass as it adds texture.
We had the fan on a low setting so it gently moved the blades of grass that are attached to the botton of the two.
AUTUMN
Again we used the same background but for this season we hung a fabric over the top to represent the sun rise and to brighten up the scene.
We sprinkled leaves onto the table, as autumn is a season when the leaves fall off the trees.
The two was also decorated with leaves. We turned the fan on and it blew some of the leaves, we also ended up with jodie holding leaves in front of the fan to make them fly a lot better.
We will add sound effects to some of the idents to make them more interesting as not a lot is going on in some.

Spring 2.
Making the Spring 2 was done in the same way as the other 2's. This was decorated with blue and green paper to represent the blue sky and grass.
This is the final 2 created for Spring.
Summer 2.
We then decorated the two with sand and flipslops, with a summer umberella to go with a beach theme.
A few pictures of the hard workers ;D
Literally a few...
As this process would take a long time if just the Prop stylist and Set designer did it by themselves most of the group helped to enable more time to be saved for filming and editing etc without having to rush a final outcome. Each 2 was cut out individually so it is very time consuming, I'm sure Jodie was very grateful of the help she received off the lovely ladies. I just stood taking photos as evidence of their hard work (very tiring job).
Autumn 2.
This is the autumn 2 being made. Its done in the same way as the winter 2 but decorated with leaves instead of cotton wool.
We layered up the 2's cut out to make the overall 2 much thicker and less vulnerable to being bent or damaged.
Winter 2.
The process of creating the number 2 for winter.
We associated winter with snow so we brought some cotton wool to stick onto the base.
Dani and Fiona helped to assist Jodie decorate the 2. The first layer of cotton wool is applied. The 2 is starting to look very soft.
Then the first layer is complete and another layer of cotton wool is applied to make it much thicker and a lot fluffier!
With the layers of wool complete we all still thought that the 2 was still too thin so more foam board was layered up and made the 2 thicker.
Coral designed the background to just be black so the white 2 stood out. She also made some snow flakes which will be hanging up on the background.
